The Thoughts Of A Newly Single Mother

The Thoughts Of A Newly Single Mother

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll probably have seen that I separated from my husband at the beginning of the year. It’s now six months on and I thought I’d write down a little of what’s gone through my head during my new single mum life.

Separation – How To Tell Your Children

Separation – How To Tell Your Children

It’s been five months since my husband and I separated. This is probably the first post I’ve written on the topic. I do have other posts that I wrote in the days and weeks following it. However, it’s not time to share them yet. I think for most parents, the most worrying aspect of this situation is telling the kids you are separating. I’m no expert but I have been through it recently. Like with most of my blog posts,…

Returning to School after CoronaVirus

Returning to School after CoronaVirus

At the beginning of June, Lucas returned to school after nine weeks following the global pandemic. When it was announced that reception, Year 1 and Year 6 would have the opportunity to attend school again, I battled with my conscience. Would Lucas be returning to school after CoronaVirus? It definitely wasn’t a quick decision.

Wakefield Walks

Wakefield Walks

The Corona Virus is something that will be making history. Our children will tell their grandchildren about the time that the country stopped, parents stayed home and we spent a lot of time playing and making memories. In times like this, you have to try and see the positives. I’m actually making a list of achievements in lockdown but that’s for another post. Today it’s walks for children in Wakefield! I wanted to share my appreciation for the area we…

Lockdown Activities for Year 1

Lockdown Activities for Year 1

Social media is awash with ideas for keeping the little ones entertained during the Coronavirus lockdown. The more ideas the better in my opinion!  In my blog post “Lockdown Lessons” I said that planning a few tasks a day helped me. Therefore, I thought I’d share some of the more popular activities for Year 1 I’ve had Lucas doing over the last fortnight… Biology – What Am I Made Of? I’ve had a big roll of plain paper that I…

Partition at Leeds Playhouse Review

Partition at Leeds Playhouse Review

As an ex drama teacher, I still have a love of theatre and performance so when Blog Up North gives me the opportunity to write a Leeds Playhouse review I snap their hand off! I went to see Partition in November 2018 in the Leeds Playhouse Pop Up Theatre. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised! In 1947, up to two million people died due to the divide of British India. Until 7:30pm on Wednesday 7th…

Sienna At Two

Sienna At Two

Sienna has made it to two years old. A fully-fledged toddler and the Terrible Twos are here! When I reflect back on the year I sometimes wonder how she made it to two! These posts aren’t really the most exciting of posts but I like to write them to document her progression. I promise I won’t ramble on for too long. When she turned one, she still felt like a baby. Very quickly that changed and before I knew it,…

2020 Goals

2020 Goals

I’ve been a little late on the 2020 goals front this year but I really wanted to post my goals today, the 17th of January. Why? Why it’s officially the day that people give up on their New Year’s Resolutions. I’ve said in previous posts that I don’t set resolutions, I set goals…but still, it’s a good day to post it. Goals are more positive in my opinion. Resolutions always seem to be negative…”I will stop….” I’m not going to…”…
