2020 Goals

2020 Goals

I’ve been a little late on the 2020 goals front this year but I really wanted to post my goals today, the 17th of January. Why? Why it’s officially the day that people give up on their New Year’s Resolutions. I’ve said in previous posts that I don’t set resolutions, I set goals…but still, it’s a good day to post it. Goals are more positive in my opinion. Resolutions always seem to be negative…”I will stop….” I’m not going to…”…

Fun At Calypso Cove

Fun At Calypso Cove

For the final weekend, before Lucas returned to school after the Christmas holidays, we spent a lovely morning at Calypso Cove in Barnsley Metrodome. If you’re looking for swimming in South Yorkshire, it’s the only place to visit. It’s a leisure centre that I have fond memories of. From visiting with my Dad when I was little (and very different!) to watching my nieces win gold medals in acro gymnastics! Calypso Cove has adapted and changed over the years and…

Microblading – All You Need To Know!

Microblading – All You Need To Know!

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup. It involves a small handheld tool made of several tiny needles that are used to add semi-permanent pigment to the skin. It is a technique that was discovered thousands of years ago. The superfine microblade creates lines in the skin that flow in the same direction as your own eyebrows then pigment is added to give the colour.

2019 Goals Revisted – How Did I Do?

2019 Goals Revisted – How Did I Do?

New Year’s Eve is all about reflection and looking forward, isn’t it? As I said when I wrote my 2019 Goals post, I don’t like New Years Resolutions but I do like goals. I like fresh starts. A new year is literally a whole fresh book for me and I can’t wait to fill it with lots of lovely stuff. I also like to start it with good intentions, hence where the goals come from.

Review: The Castle Wakefield

Review: The Castle Wakefield

Wakefield is my hometown. Apart from a stint at University, it’s the place I’ve lived all my life. During this time there have been certain pubs and restaurants that we’ve been back to time and time again. The Castle in Wakefield is one of those places! I was excited and intrigued to hear that they were closing for refurbishment. Therefore you can imagine how delighted I was when I was invited to visit! My favourite type of pub is one…

Review: SuperZings Rivals Of Kaboom!

Picture the scene…you’re Mum to two. You’re ill. Feeling more poorly than you’ve felt in a long time. Your older child is at school. The toddler is being entertained by a Disney film, for now. You lay there wondering how you’re going to survive from school run to bedtime. Then there is a knock at the door and a man stands before you with a large box. Inside the parcel are SuperZings Rivals of Kaboom and immediately you know that…

Five Things I Learnt About Party Planning

Five Things I Learnt About Party Planning

Party planning in my home town of Wakefield. It sounds like a fun job doesn’t it? I love organising things. I took great pleasure in planning our wedding and always thought I’d be a good events planner. However, in October I planned a a surprise 30th for my best friend and I’m now questioning my initial thoughts! With this in mind, here are five things I learnt about party planning: 1) Wedding Planning and Party Planning are different. Wedding planning…

Rock Challenge

Rock Challenge

You’ll have to excuse me as this post deviates from the usual “Parenting and Lifestyle” theme and makes a back turn to my teacher days. I feel passionately about ex-curricular activities. There are two specific reasons for me writing this post about Rock Challenge: One – It was World Teacher’s Day on the 5th October Two – I heard some sad news about an event that I used to be involved in when I was a teacher For those that…

Marvel Universe Live! Review

Marvel Universe Live! Review

Major Mummy and Wife Points! When I told my husband I had been gifted tickets for Marvel Universe Live for a review, his words were “Best wife ever!” or something along those lines. We didn’t tell Lucas till nearer the time as I couldn’t deal with the constant asking of how many sleeps. Let’s be honest, it’s only October and he’s asking about Christmas thanks to shops and their decorations. By the time the day came to go to Fly…

My New Addiction – Podcasts!

My New Addiction – Podcasts!

Today is International Podcast Day. They’ve been around for a while but they’ve really took off this year. Celebrities, bloggers, sports people and many others are recording podcasts. Parenting, Birth, Mental Health, Comedy, Fashion…no topics are off limits for Podcasts! If I’m honest, there’re not something I was overly interested in. They didn’t appeal to me. Then I found out that Giovanna Fletcher had one based on her book Happy Baby Happy Mum. I loved the book and thought I’ve…
