Ey Up and Happy New Year!
I saw something on Instagram the other day that said that this was the last teen year that we would experience in our lifetime. Things like that freak me out. I get these “moments” where I just think “I don’t want to die” and my mind goes into a deep, dark place where my kids are without parents etc. It’s ridiculous and I try to snap myself out of it as quickly as possible.
BUT, it is a new year and I love a fresh start. I like starting things at the beginning of the week. I like even numbers, the beginning of a new month, the beginning of a new notebook…you see what I’m getting at? I like the opportunity to start fresh and the new year is the perfect time for this.
I”m not a fan of resolutions, I don’t find them very productive but something sounds better about having an “intention” or “goal” so I thought I’d share a few of mine for 2019…
Get More Technical..
This is blog related. I’m slowly starting to understand the ways of Instagram and doing my best to post interesting and engaging content whilst being myself and engaging with others too however my actual blog itself is lacking in the technology department. I know that there are ways and means to get my posts seen more, I know that Pinterest plays a part in this however I don’t know how I go about it so my first goal of 2019 is to educate myself on Pinterest, video editing (for a possible YouTube channel) and creating blog posts that will be seen more. If you have any helpful tips on this, please comment below!
Continue To Be Consistent
Since launching Becka’s Bubble in September 2018, I have consistently posted at least once a week, sometimes twice a week with an “Introducing…” post. I’ve also posted once a day to my Instagram feed. I’d like this to continue throughout 2019. I suppose I should try and give Facebook/Twitter some time too! I learned in 2018 that when I get a surge of inspiration to write, get writing. My preparation before The Bubble launched was key to everything running smoothly and I want to be ahead of my posts where possible, during 2019.
Get To Goal Weight…And Maintain It!
If you’ve followed in on Instagram, you’ll see that I joined Weight Watchers in March 2018. After having Sienna I decided that I had enough of yo-yo weight loss/gain and given that we had no more babies planned, now was the time to get to my weight goal and stay there!
Since March I’ve lost a stone and a half and I would like to lose another stone and a half. When I’m in the zone, my willpower is fierce. I plan meals weekly, do a food shop and stick to it. I enjoy trying new recipes and the odd treat here or there.
There are a lot of posts about Body Positivity at the moment and embracing you. I love them and admire them but sometimes i feel like they make me feel bad for wanting to lose weight. This is something I’m doing for myself: to be healthy and to feel more attractive. I know that I feel better in general when I eat better. I’m more confident when my clothes fit me properly and I enjoy myself more when I’m happy being me.
Find A Job
There is no rush with this one but by the end of the year I’d like to have a part time job that I enjoy, that means I can still be around for the kids and continue blogging.
I’m so lucky that we are in a position whereby we can live off my husbands wage so I don’t have to rush into the first job that becomes available. I honestly don’t know what I want to do but I do know what I enjoy and find interesting so I’m going down those lines: talking to people, researching and hopefully something will crop up. It’s difficult when you’re an ex teacher and you’ve always had school holidays off. I’d love to work in a school again, but not teaching. I’d love to do something to do with marketing and social media. I’d love to work with kids again. I know I want to be part of a team and I only want to work two, maybe three days max. I DEFINITELY know that I’m not cut out to be a Stay At Home Mum! Ha ha!
There is a lot of uncertainty in 2019 with the direction my life is going within my career but there is also a lot to look forward to. More special times with my family, seeing my children develop and grow, hopefully more time with Ric, learning and developing my blog and social media.
If you’ve read my blog posts or liked, commented or shared my Facebook, twitter or Instagram posts….thank you! I can’t tell you how much it means to me. Becky’s Bubble is what makes me Becka at the moment, it gives me a sense of purpose so anything you do to support that is very much appreciated.
