Ey Up!

As the new school year begins, it feels a little like New Year…a fresh start. I think that no matter whether I’m teaching or not, my brain is programmed to the academic year more than the calendar one.

The new school year seemed appropriate to launch Becka’s Bubble and with that I’ve got a couple of regular posts that you will see appearing on my feeds. Introducing… will be posted at least once a month, hopefully twice a month if I get enough bloggers wanting to take part!

Another regular post will be my monthly favourites where I will share what I’ve been loving each month. If I get brave enough and venture into You Tube, this post might become a vlog instead of a blog! So without further ado, let’s get on with it!

Since I’ve stopped working, I’m trying to be careful with the pennies and not spend as beckasbubblemuch on things like make up products. Usually with a little bit of experimentation, you can find a budget version of your favourite product. Saying that, one thing I will always buy is the Urban Decay Brow Box in Brown Sugar. At £22.50, it’s pricey for such a small box, especially as I only use one of the colours HOWEVER it does last me an entire year so thats only 0.06p a beckasbubbleday (and I do use it every day). In a bid to be more make up savvy, I bought the Collection Lash Surge from Wilkinsons for about £4 a few weeks ago and I’m super impressed with it. It’s a good few quid cheaper than the one I would usually use and it lengthens and separates them well.

Finally, a staple for doing my hair every day is the Schwarzkopf beckasbubblegot2b Powder’ful Volumizing Styling Powder. I have very flat, thin hair so this product gives me some volume and I usually, much to my hairdressers annoyance, back comb it a little too. Unfortunately, without this product my hair is flat to my head and looks rubbish.

Given that my husband works most evenings, I’m lucky that I get the remote to myself most of the time to indulge in my guilty pleasure of utter sh*te TV. The thing I look forward to most about September is that it begins my weekends of X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing.

I love nothing more that wintery weekend evenings, snuggled up on the sofa watching these programmes. I can’t tell you how excited I am the Robbie Williams is on the judging panel. Seeing his beautiful face every Saturday and Sunday makes me smile. In general as a show, I much prefer Strictly and tend to watch that first then X Factor after on catch up and fast forward the adverts. This year I’m super excited about the line up and can’t wait to see the likes of Katie Piper, Lee Ryan, Joe Sugg and Ashley Roberts (although I’m not sure how fair the last one is given she’s a pussycat doll!)

Usually Ric and I like to watch a series together on a Monday night, we don’t get a lot of time together so it’s our quality time. After it being all over Instagram stories, we’ve started watching Bodyguard this month. As we only watch a couple of episodes every Monday, we’re a bit behind with it but it definitely hooked us both from the first episode and I’m looking forward to seeing how it pans out.

I got the opportunity to accompany my ‘life partner’ Keri to a camping pod in the Lake District a few week ago. Her boyfriend was unable to get the Monday off so I went along instead, rather than waste the booking. We didn’t set off until 6pm because I had a face painting job I was booked for and by the time we got to the campsite it was 9:15pm but we had a great time and it was nice to catch up with her and have some child free time too. There was a hilarious moment as she ran around the campsite dressed in a pale blue dressing gown, trying to inflate a red air chair, she looked like Iggle Piggle from In The Night Garden. On the way home we stopped in Penrith and by a beautiful lake, the scenery was stunning. I’ve never been to the Lakes but I definitely want to go back.

We also had some lovely days at Go Ape at Temple Newsam which you can read about here and This Green Moon Forest School which you can read about here.

After a bit of a break over the summer holidays, I went back to Weight Watchers on the 11th of September and I’d put 5.5lb on over the six week holidays. I didn’t think that was too bad in the grand scheme of things but I’ve got my head back in it and I’m determined to be at target for Christmas. I lost 3lb in the first week which I was really pleased with and I think some of that has come from new recipes I’ve been trying. The Weight Watchers Three Cheese Rigatoni was delicious and probably my favourite meal of the month.

I’ve only really started to get into You Tube in the last few months. When I’m getting ready on a morning, You Tube videos are great to put on as they’re short and don’t take a lot of concentration. I was loving the stationery hauls as the kids went Back to School! One of my favourite You Tubers has always been Brummy Mummy of 2.

There is nothing I don’t love about Emma’s vlogs, from her hauls, to her Day in the Life videos, to her Weekly Vlogs. I love her passion for Disney, Stationery, Mugs and Pyjamas, all things that are my favourites too. Her kids, Erin and Ethan, are totally adorable and I love it when they get involved.

I wasn’t sure whether to add this category because, as much as I like reading, I don’t find I get much time to do it. I have been reading Giovanna Fletcher’s Happy Mum Happy beckasbubbleBaby on my Kindle since before Sienna was born in December and I started Louise Pentland’s Wilde Like Me at the beginning of August and I don’t think I’ve read more than a few chapters. I think that if I admit to it on this post, it might give me a kick up the backside to try and finish them! I am nearly finished with HMHB so will aim to get to the end of that by the end of October so I can tell you what I think! I usually try to read on an evening before bed but then I fall asleep so I need to set aside a different time to get my reading in.

I’ve actually got a list of books on my phone that I really want to read so I have to organise my time and do something about the lack of literature in my life at the moment.

Is there any other categories you’d like me to add to this monthly post? Let me know! Also, let me know what you’ve been watching, reading, eating etc! I like inspiration! Comment below or find me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Pinterest.
